Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions apply to all bicycle servicing, repair and related services provided by The Local Spokes Man (“We”, “Us”, “Our” “I”). By booking a service or repair, or by using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.


2. Contracting Party

When you place an order for services (a “Booking”) or products, you enter into a legally binding contract with:
The Local Spokes Man Ltd (or relevant legal entity), with registered office at 138 Nyetimber Lane, Pagham, West Sussex, PO213HR.

4. Bookings & Cancellations

  • You may cancel or reschedule a Booking up to 48 hours before the scheduled time without charge.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of a Booking may incur a cancellation fee of £20.

5. Quotes & Pricing

  • Any quoted price is an estimate, valid for [e.g. 7] days, unless otherwise stated.
  • We will inspect the bicycle before finalising a quote. If additional work is required beyond what was visible at the time of quote, we will inform you and seek your approval before proceeding.
  • Labour is charged on a time basis; complex or difficult work (for example, bikes with internal cable routing, motors, or seized components) may incur extra labour time or cost.


6. Payment

  • Payment is due upon completion of the work and before returning the bicycle to you, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • We accept [list payment methods: e.g. bank card, digital payments, etc.]


7. Parts & Warranty

  • Parts we install are guaranteed under the original manufacturer warranties. Claims under those warranties are subject to the manufacturer’s terms and proof of purchase.
  • Our labour is guaranteed for [e.g. 30] days from date of service.
  • Guarantees do not cover wear and tear, misuse, accidents, or damage due to events outside our control.


8. Use of Customer-Supplied Parts

  • If you supply parts to be fitted, we may charge a “fitting fee” (or “corkage fee”) of 15% of the labour bill.
  • We may require verification of the part’s origin (packaging, proof of purchase) before fitting.
  • We cannot guarantee manufacturer warranty coverage for parts you supply.


9. Refusal of Work

  • We reserve the right to refuse to work on any bicycle that, in our view, is unsafe or non-compliant with relevant laws or safety standards.


10. Storage & Uncollected Bikes

  • Bikes must be collected within [Insert Days, e.g. 5] days of us completing the work. After this period, a storage fee of £5 per day applies.
  • Bikes uncollected after 30 days may be treated as abandoned, and may be donated or disposed of after reasonable attempts to contact you unless prior agreement has been made.


11. Test Rides / Diagnostics

  • You authorise our mechanics to test ride your bike to diagnose issues and to confirm that repairs are working properly.


12. Service & Performance Dates

  • Any dates or time estimates we give for completing repairs or servicing are indicative only. We will endeavour to meet them, but we will not be liable for delays caused by factors outside our control (e.g. supply chain delays, shortages of parts, staff illness, etc.).
  • If you miss a scheduled appointment or do not approve additional work in a timely manner, it may delay completion.


13. Liability

  • We shall be responsible for any loss or damage directly resulting from our negligence or breach of contract.
  • However, we are not liable for:
    a) Pre-existing damage or defects you did not disclose.
    b) Losses not reasonably foreseeable at the time of contract.
    c) Normal wear and tear, accidents, misuse, or environmental damage.
  • In the event of personal injury or death caused by our negligence, we accept full liability under applicable law.


14. Complaints & Remedies

  • If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us by email or phone. We will investigate and try to resolve any issues promptly.
  • You must give us a reasonable opportunity to correct any problem before taking further steps.


15. Data Protection

  • We collect and process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Any data used will be stored securely, lawfully, and only for the purposes for which it was collected.


16. Intellectual Property

  • All content, promotional materials, logos, trademarks, etc., used by The Local Spokes Man are our property (or that of our licensors). You must not reproduce, use or modify them without our express written consent.


17. Cancellation & Cooling-Off (Consumer Rights)

  • For consumers, you may have a right to cancel your contract during a cooling-off period of up to 14 days from acceptance of your Booking or delivery of Products, in accordance with applicable consumer protection law.
  • If you ask us to start work before the cooling-off period ends, you may lose this right.
  • If cancellation occurs after work has started, we may charge for the work already carried out.


18. Governing Law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales (or whichever jurisdiction you operate in).
  • Any dispute related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [England and Wales or relevant jurisdiction].


19. Collection & delivery

  • Collection fees are non-refundable, regardless of whether work proceeds on your bicycle once it arrives at our workshop.
  • You must be present with your bike at the address listed and at the time specified within the Booking.
  • If you are not present at the address listed and at the time specified in the reservation, then in addition to the original price payable by you, we reserve the right to charge you a reasonable additional amount to cover any unavoidable, or irrecoverable costs and/or expenses incurred by Us as a direct result of its suspension or delay in those circumstances.
  • You must provide Us with free and prompt access to your bike to enable Us to carry out the collection. The same applies to booked deliveries.
  • If we are unable to park our Collection/Delivery Vehicle legally near to the Collection/Delivery point we request that the bike is brought to /received from our Driver. If for whatever valid reason you are unable to do this then please provide us with instructions in the Collection/Delivery field in your booking.
